Position Title: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Program
Coordinator
Contract Period: 1st August, 2023 - 31st December 2023

About YUWA
Established in 2009, YUWA is a registered not-for-profit, purely youth-run
and led organization that promotes youth participation through empowerment and
advocacy. YUWA was born out of a group of committed youths, unofficially
working in this sector since 2005. The initial focus was to develop the
leadership skills of the involved youths, to train as youth activists, and to
advocate for change, thus resulting in a wide and diverse array of knowledge,
skills, and experience in this sector. It led to the realization of the
seriousness of youth issues and the need to act, which, finally took the shape
of YUWA. YUWA currently works in three thematic areas: Active Citizenship,
Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Research Unit.
About RHRN
Right Here Right Now is a strategic global, regional and national partnership
that envisions a world where young people, in all their diversity, acquire
full and uninterrupted access to comprehensive sexuality education (CSE), and
youth-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health services, including safe
abortion. It seeks to contribute to this by advancing young people’s
meaningful participation in all aspects of development and harnessing the
capacity of institutions to enable young people’s access to their full Sexual
and Reproductive Health and Rights. The project is funded by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Government through Rutgers, Netherlands.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and work for RHRN2 project and other preparatory procedures in coordination with RHRN2 coalition organizations.
- Ensure high-quality development and implementation of YUWA’s activities under RHRN-2 annual work plan, and review and revise them periodically as the need arises in consultation with Executive Board
- Compile program reports and prepare high-quality reports for YUWA’s own and funders’ requirements and contribute to quarterly progress reports and annual organizational reports in coordination with the M&E team.
- Manage and monitor YUWA’s project budgets, and work with the Finance team in developing accurate financial reports.
- Monitor the appropriate use of social media to update the program activities and reach out to relevant stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot any problems that arise, consulting the Office Supervisor and executive board as needed in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project.
- Report regularly to the Office Supervisor on the progress of activities/tasks assigned and inform on any issues potentially detrimental to the organization.
- Manage and store all data, resources and information regarding the program in online and offline backup mediums.
- Build, support and sustain harmonious relationships with the coalition partners, funding agency and other stakeholders taking into consideration YUWA’s partnership principles.
- Ensure that immediate subordinates in the department submit narrative and financial reports that comply with YUWA and donors’ requirements.
- Lead advocacy strategies related to SRHR and coordinate with the team to strengthen documentation, implementation and monitoring of young people’s SRHR related advocacy efforts from YUWA.
- Supervise and support SRHR Program officers, Project leads and associates and coordinate capacity development activities for individuals under the department along with initiating different in-house programs.
- Establish, develop, and maintain a network of contacts and good working relations with stakeholders, donors and important government partners including relevant Ministries and related line agencies.
- Contribute to other shared program tasks of YUWA, such as joint advocacy planning and development, information scanning, visitor orientation, publication outputs, promotion of YUWA, and participate in organization wide tasks.
- In collaboration with the YUWA’s Executive Board and Office Supervisor, provide substantive contributions to the development of funding proposals when required.
Minimum Qualification and Skills
- Minimum Master’s degree in Public Health, International Development, Social Sciences and other related field with 2 years of working experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, International Development, Social Sciences and other related field with 3 years of working experience.
- Familiarity with the key terms and concepts related to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, including Comprehensive Sexuality Education and meaningful and inclusive youth participation in SRHR.
- Ability to prepare, coordinate and implement projects including planning, monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in compiling program reports and preparing high-quality reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with the team members, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage data, resources and information related to program (using online and office backup medium)
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in dynamic environments.
- Capacity to lead a team and provide guidance, support and mentorship to team members assisting in their professional growth and development.
Reporting Lines:
The SRHR Program Coordinator will report to the RHRN Country Coordinator, who
is responsible for overseeing the RHRN Project. The SRHR Program Coordinator
will closely collaborate with the Active Citizenship department, Communication
department, Coordinating team and other team members.
Working Relationships:
The SRHR Program Coordinator will establish and maintain effective working of
overall SRHR programs and RHRN activities. They will also engage with RHRN
coalition members and external stakeholders such as donors, partners and
policymakers.
Duration of Contract:
The initial contract will be a fixed-term contract for 5 months with a three-
month probationary period, with the possibility of extension based on
performance and availability of funding. The contract will include details of
compensation, benefits, and other relevant terms and conditions.
